How can we pour into others if we have not filled up ourselves first? Of course helping others can help you find peace but we have to be mindful and understand when we need to take care of ourselves as well. The goal is to be a light to others, not burn yourself out. When you're overflowing with love, joy, optimism, enthusiasm and inspiration it's so much easier to spread it to those around you. That's why it's important to take the time to heal yourself, pamper yourself or whatever it is you may need.

I'm learning that the best version of myself is so much more useful than half of me. Sometimes becoming the best you means saying No. It means turning down projects and taking on less work so that you can give your mind the space and time it needs to recharge. Sometimes it means admitting you're frustrated and overwhelmed. Sometimes it means standing up for yourself and saying enough is enough. Some may feel you are being selfish, but if we heal ourselves we have a greater chance to heal those around us. Taking care of yourself and taking care of others is not mutually exclusive.

We live in a time where most take pride in being able to juggle a lot at once, but let's be honest are we taking on more work because we want or are we avoiding issues we really should address(but don't want to). I'll admit I've always been one of those people who escape and get lost in my work. I get fulfillment out of completing projects and helping others. At times it's a gift and other times a curse. I found myself so immersed in my work that I stopped doing the simple things I needed to do for me. This past October was the first time in a long time that I bought myself something and treated myself. I’m growing and working on doing more of what I enjoy, expanding my vision of life, abundance and remembering to take a little time to recharge. I'm remembering that I am not required to set myself on fire to keep other people warm. Don't feel bad for taking a little time for you.

So as the year comes to an end and we begin a new one, no matter how little time you have remember to take care of yourself.

  • Grow yourself. Take the time you need to heal, understand your fears, listen to your complaints, feel your sadness, trust yourself and get to know you. Don't be afraid to acknowledge what you want out of life, what your needs are.

  • Get a massage or Facial. Sometimes, a little pampering can melt the stress away. You'll have a chance to relax and you'll enjoy it!

  • Do one thing that makes you happy, every day. Listen to music, paint your nails, read a book, journal, take a walk. Do whatever

It's a pleasure to meet you! I am a Mother, Photographer, and Artist. I decided to create this blog to share educational resources, tips, and to help others in business, and at home, stay organized, focused, and be intentional with their lives.
