All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination. - Earl Nightingale
Hey, I am Kayla! I am a Mother, Photographer, and Freelance Artist. Art has inspired my life from a young age. Growing up drawing, reading, and writing helped me through some of the toughest times. I grew up the youngest of 5 in a home of physical, mental, and sexual abuse. Growing up, I didn't have many role models or people I could go to for help and advice.
As a child, my safe place was school, a place I could escape it all. Nothing that happened around me and my siblings ever felt right or okay. I knew I had to get away from it all. We struggled; we were homeless moving, from place to place. My Junior to senior year of high school, I went to 6 different schools. Though no matter how hard life was, I hustled and maintained an optimistic mindset even when those that were supposed to protect me tried to make me feel invisible. When they told me I would never be anything, and wanted to break me. I never stopped believing in myself. I made mistakes, I fell, but I always got back up.
I decided I was going to make a change. I decided that if I didn't have anyone to teach me, I would teach myself. I decided that when I had children, I would work to make sure my children never felt incapable or insignificant. I would help them understand that they could do or be anything they put their mind to. I taught myself graphic design, photography, and so much more.
Life is not easy, and it is not permanent. We don't all have the same start, privileges or resources. However, we all have a mind, and our mind is our best tool. With an optimistic mindset, courage, and determination, there is no limit to what we can achieve. My mission is to help, inspire, and empower others, especially children. That's why I created my non-profit, which is dedicated to empowering and educating underprivileged youth. We all have choices, but life can be a struggle for underprivileged children who are taught their options are limited. I created my Non-Profit because I want to teach kids that there is no limit to the things that they can do. I believe in instilling positivity into everything around me.
