GROWTH SPOTLIGHT
Meet Monet Dyson
Tell us about yourself. What do you do? What is your mission or goal?
My name is Monèt Dyson, I am an artist who created a brand called Dipped N Color. My mission is to empower parents and children to connect and create through our paint kits and paint events.
What challenges did you have to overcome at the beginning of your journey?
The challenges I had to overcome at the beginning of my journey is getting clear on what I was doing and who I was serving and standing in my own way.
Knowing what you know now, is there anything you would have done differently when you were first starting out?
First starting out if I knew what I know now is not listening to everyone about what they think I should sell or create. Just taking more time to turn all that noise off and listen to my gut and what I want to do. Like what makes me happy.
What do you do daily to grow as an entrepreneur?
What I do daily to grow as an entrepreneur is having slow-down moments. Whether that be writing out my to-do’s of what I want to get accomplished for the day, reading a few pages of a book, stretching, getting outside, or watching tv. I realized I am always on go mode and I realized that it’s not good. I started to feel burned out. There are times to be on go mode for sure but you got to be able to turn that switch off from time to time and relax.
How do you define success?
I define success as making an impact on other's lives for the better. Showing our people that our family dynamic doesn’t have to be broken. It can be healed if we take the steps to try another way. I feel I do that through my paint parties, my content, or telling my story. I also define success as increasing my family's wealth through knowledge and income.
What are some of your accomplishments?
My accomplishment is starting my business and sticking to it. Deciding to step out on faith and just doing it. Other accomplishments include being featured on Good Day Sacramento and in a magazine.
